Nutrition Facts

Some people can’t take a supplement and some people prefer not to take supplements.  And, I always say it is better to get our nutrition in our food if at all possible.  That is the way it was meant to be, right?

I might say to a patient, “you need magnesium.”  A patient sometimes responds with, I just can’t take any magnesium or it will give me diarrhea (listen up folks with constipation!).  “So, dear patient, you need to eat foods with magnesium in them.”

What food has magnesium in it?  Go to a website Dr. Greger made called www.nutritionfacts.org. It is completely free and all profits from any of his books or website go to educating people about nutrition.

You see, he found his purpose.  He is a medical doctor and wants to help others learn about nutrition just like a doctor did for his grandmother and saved her life.  She lived many more years.  So many people have told me how much their grandmother influenced them, just like me. He has many you tube videos as well.  I like the way his nutrition facts website has a search engine where you can ask all kinds of questions.  If you have any questions, use it now.

Jingle Bells!

Jingle Bells! I have such fond memories of Christmas time when I was a child.  I loved Santa!

The children are easy to buy for as they have a long list of wants.  Men and women below 50 often have things they need or want.  But when you get to people as old as I am (51, right?), it gets harder to find that perfect something for Granny or Grandpa, doesn’t it?

You might look toward a gift of health.  Do they have any pain?  If so, there are braces or supports that might be helpful.  Perhaps a favorite bottle of herbal lotion for pain?  Or perhaps a gift certificate for massage.  Or maybe a set of one-pound weights to wear around their wrists or ankles to help them build muscle.   There are many things that older people need to help their body, so let that be your number one choice.  They will appreciate it!

Disease Proof Yourself!

How is that possible?  What we need to do it make sure when poisons come into our bodies, that they have a quick and easy way to get out of the body.

How do we do that?  In three, sometimes, easy steps:  1) avoid constipation, 2) drink plenty of good, clean water, and 3) be sure to sweat.

If you have ever had food poisoning, what would it have been like if you were constipated?  I only had food poisoning once, but it felt like a monster was inside me demanding to get out.  And we want to let it out!  Get rid of the toxins through good bowel movements (or flat-out diarrhea!), urinating (even excessively) and sweating.  Those are the hallmarks of detoxification!

Self-Care

These last six months have taught us the importance of being able to care for ourselves at home as much as possible.  That is where the “HEALY” comes in.  I bring this up because it is on sale this week.  Tesla and Einstein both said something to the effect that the medicine of the future will be with frequencies, and the Healy is a frequency machine.  And what I love the most is the Healy has an analyzer that will tell you what frequencies you need today.  That is a gift.

There are thousands of frequencies.  Which ones do I need?  The analyzer will tell you.

In this day and age, how nice it is to get help in the comfort of your own home.  If you live with pain or dysfunction, or just want to be ready for the next thing that comes along, consider a Healy.  I love mine and you will love yours too!

How Not To Die

“How Not To Die” is the title of Dr. Michael Greger’s book. I find it easier sometimes to listen to a video when I am cooking or getting dressed for the day instead of reading a book.

In this video, Dr. Greger goes through the top 15 reasons for cause of death and gives s synopsis of the research in regards to those causes.

What I love about him is his website, nutritionfacts.org. It is nice to be able to search for a diagnosis or a food. He is all about educating the public about food and how to avoid or recover from disease. I admire him and hope you do too!

A Healthy House

You may give consideration to the products you bring into your home. Are they safe? Are they toxic? Are they supportive for my health?

But how often do you think about the house itself. Some people are chronically sick. They are often very picky about what they eat and what products they bring into their home.

But have they thought about their house and what kind of toxicity it might have? Not everyone needs this, for sure. But it is interesting for us to know about and think about. And the house made the difference for this woman. Enjoy the video.

Looking Ahead

Happy November!  Our fall has been beautiful this year.  We have had many color-filled days.  Halloween is in the rear-view mirror and the biggest holidays of the year are before us, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Christmas will be different this year!  But different can be good.  One thing is:  we will still give gifts.  As you make your gift list, remember it is always nice to give a gift of health.  There are many things that fit the category.  Don’t forget the Voxx socks.  They make such nice gifts for the athlete as well as a person in pain.  I first bought them because they give 31% greater balance and I needed it.  Voxx has other products too.  Click on the dashboard on my website where it says socks.  They have a sleeve for people who need to focus and concentrate.  Think ADD.  They also have other health related products. You can ook through the website and see what catches your attention.  Maybe you will find your latest greatest thing!

I have a great moisturizer that always makes a nice gift.  And if you have a mom or dad or grandmother who has a sore knuckle, I have just the remedy.   If you need an idea, just ask!!  Even though we are challenged with Corona, let’s have a great Christmas!

Side Sleeping

You can get by with so much when you are young, right?  As we get older, we have to make some accommodations.  And one of them is with our sleeping position. I learned this from my own experience.  As we get older, sleeping on our side can cause our hips and/or knees to hurt, especially women because our hips are wide.

I bought a pillow especially made to put between my knees while on my side.  It was about 10 inches in length.  What a misstate that was!  My knees hurt more than before.  I had to experiment.  I found that I feel best when the pillow I put between my knees goes all the way from the top of my knees to the bottom of my feet.   Since I am short, I can use a regular pillow. Why is that better?  The short pillow left my leg hanging especially at the knee and ankle.  For a minute that is fine, but you sleep in the same position sometimes for hours.  It pulls on the ligaments.  Try using a pillow between your legs that goes from your knees and is long enough to still supports your ankle.  See if that doesn’t make a big difference for you like it did me!

Fruits and Veggies

No matter whether you buy organic or conventionally grown food, you still want to wash it. This is the way I wash my fruits and veggies because this will remove some of the pesticides and herbicides from your food. Even though I buy organic food, no food is really clean these days, even organic.

I put the fruit or veggie in a bowl of water and put about a tablespoon of lemon juice and a teaspoon of salt. I swish the produce around in the water for about 30 seconds to a minute. You can leave it longer, but you don’t have to. I drain the bowl and then fill it with fresh water and wash the produce again. You will like the way this plumps up your produce if it is a bit weepy.

Nothing I know of will remove all toxins. We just do the best we can.

Laughing

Have you ever heard of laughing therapy? In this age of COVID, I think we should all try it. It is simple, completely free and you will have chemicals flowing throughout your body without taking any pills.

Yes, I am talking about laughter. It is good for us. It is fun. So do it!

If this is a hard exercise for you, just get around a few children. It seems like it happens more with little girls. Giggle, giggle, giggle. It starts out innocently. And then continue to laugh, boistrously laugh and do it for about 5 minutes. At first it feels like you are putting yourself, and others, on. And, maybe you are. But then it morphs into just plain silliness and laughter from the heart. After you finish laughing, see how you feel. You will feel better.

I think we were meant to laugh. A few of my best memories of my Grandpa were big belly laughs–just like Santa Clause. And if you happen to be a person who is a grouch, try doing this everyday for awhile. It won’t hurt you and it just might help you.

I’d love to hear any feedback!
